The WPKI Non-Profit Association publish updated specifications. The previous WIM based solution is abandoned in favor of a solution based on SIM Application Toolkit. Through this change the WPKI solution becomes more independent of the mobile phone manufacturers support for WIM and in the same time allows for a wider spread. SIM Application Toolkit based technology is supported by virtually all mobile phones on the market as this technology already is widely used by the telecom operators.
